Charlotte | More Than Just BBQ
First things first – why Charlotte, North Carolina? Well, this city’s got it all…
- It’s booming with business (hello, financial district!)
- The airport’s a breeze to get in and out of
- You get that sweet Southern charm with all the big-city perks
- The weather? Chef’s kiss! Pretty much perfect year-round
- So. Much. To. Do. (Trust me, your out-of-town attendees will thank you)
But here’s the thing – I’ve been to more stuffy hotel ballrooms than I care to count. That’s why I knew I’d hit the jackpot when I stumbled upon Alexander Homestead’s garden venue.

Alexander Homestead | Not Your Average Event Venue
Imagine this: You’re stressed about your big corporate shindig. You take a drive to Alexander Homestead, and BAM! You end up in a garden oasis right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Surrounded by blooming flowers, majestic trees and sparkling string lights, your stress melts away. It’s like stepping into a secret garden right in the middle of a city.
Here’s why I’m obsessed…
- You can party inside or outside (or both!)
- It’s got this relaxed rustic-meets-modern vibe
- They can handle small meetings or massive celebrations
- The team there? Event experts that have got your back 100% throughout the planning process
The perfect venue for our sold out annual nonprofit Summit. Alexander Homestead provided the most outstanding vendors to work with throughout our day long event. Tirzah and Carolann were so helpful in all the event details from the beautiful floral arrangements to the amazing menu options for the luncheon portion of our program. I highly recommend Alexander Homestead for any of your upcoming special events.” – Share Charlotte

Why I Choose Alexander Homestead Every Time
I’ve planned events all over Charlotte. But there’s something special about this place. First and foremost, they’re all in.When they say “full-service,” they mean it. Need help wrangling vendors? Done. Day-of crisis? They’re on it. You get to be the hero while they handle the headaches. It’s also all about you. No cookie-cutter events here. Want a luau-themed tech conference? They’ll make it happen (and probably suggest some cool ideas you hadn’t even thought of). On top of all that the location is unbeatable. It’s smack-dab in uptown Charlotte. Hotels, restaurants, bars – everything’s right there. Your attendees will love you for picking a spot that isn’t in the middle of nowhere. Lastly, the vibe! Let’s be honest: most corporate venues are comprised of a basic ballroom and some windowless conference rooms. This place? It’s got a unique history and charm.

Planning Your Epic Event
Alright, so you’re sold on Alexander Homestead (I knew you would be!). Here’s how to knock it out of the park…
- Get Clear on the “Why” – Team bonding? Impressing clients? Knowing your goal helps everything else fall into place.
- Money Talk – Be upfront about your budget. Is it $6,000 or $20,000? These folks are wizards at making magic happen, no matter the number.
- Time It Right – Think about weather, holidays, and when your industry’s swamped. Nobody wants to compete with a big conference or July 4th humidity.
- Theme It Up – A theme can turn a good event into a great one. Some ideas I’m loving lately:
-
- “Garden Party Glow Up” (with neon accents – trust me, it’s cool)
- “Southern Charm Soirée” (break out the sweet tea)
- Vintage Holiday” (think classic holiday decor like plaid and velvet)
- Keep ‘Em Busy – Bored guests = bad news. Try:
-
- A wedding magician
- A photo booth with silly props
- Lawn games (giant Jenga, anyone?)
- Live music or a killer DJ
- Food stations that double as activities (build-your-own taco bar or hot cocoa station, yes please!)
- Little Things, Big Impact – It’s all in the details, folks:
-
- Custom signs with inside jokes or company lingo
- Swag bags people will actually use
- Local Charlotte treats (because who doesn’t love chocolate truffles?)

Our group absolutely enjoyed our company Christmas Party at the Alexander Homestead. Throughout the entire night, the comment was made that it was the best Christmas Party ever. All because of the time and effort everyone at the Alexander put into making our party amazing. Working with Nicole, Christiana, Joy and Tirzah was such a smooth process. Would highly recommend this to any bride or company looking to host a corporate function at the venue. 5 Stars for sure!! – Sealing Agents
FAQs For the Diligent Planner
I thought Alexander Homestead was just for weddings…
Nope! While they love a good “I do,” and weddings there are fabulous, they are also known for their amazing corporate and social events.
What if it rains during our outdoor event?
No worries! They’ve got indoor venue options, so any outside activities can be moved. Your event will be amazing, rain or shine.
Can I hire my boss’s favorite food truck?
The AH team offers gourmet catering as one of their full-service inclusions, but they’re flexible. Chat with them about making your foodie dreams come true!
How far ahead should I book?
The early bird gets… the venue. Popular dates go fast, especially in spring and fall. If you can swing it, I’d recommend booking 6-12 months out for big events of 30+ people.
Where can my out-of-town attendees crash after our group events in Charlotte NC?
Uptown Charlotte has hotels for days, all super close. The event team at AH can also provide a list of recommendations.
I’ve created this guide to the city you can share so your attendees can make the most of their time in NC. Explore the neighborhood’s local landmarks and discover the closest accommodations and dining options.
